General Guidelines for Using College Library

  1. A borrower must carry his/her Library Card to avail of library facilities.
  2. Baggage should be kept at the baggage counter.
  3. Only exercise books, pens and gadgets (Mobile, Tab & Laptop) are allowed inside the library.
  4. All are instructed to maintain silence inside the college library.
  5. Speaking on the Mobile phone is restricted inside the library. Borrowers are allowed to carry their mobile phones in silent mode.
  6. All the users must record their attendance digitally and sign in the daily attendance register mentioning their arrival and departure times.
  7. Tampering with Books, Journals, Magazines, Newspapers, Notices, Computers, Furniture, Library Instructions and any kind of library property is strictly prohibited and the consequences will be proper punishment.
  8. Underlining, marking, or folding of pages etc. in books, journals, magazines and newspapers is strictly prohibited.
  9. No other work except reading, writing and searching materials is allowed in the reading room.
  10. For issuance of books students must come to the library personally with his/ her library card.
  11. No one is allowed to return books on behalf of any other students.
  12. On no occasion Library card is transferable.
  13. The reference books, rare books, periodicals, reports, and books of special collections as well as career guidance books are not to be issued outside of the library.
  14. A late fine charge of Rs. 1/- per day per volume will be imposed on the borrowers
  15. The students /users may convey their grievances regarding library service, verbally or in writing to the Librarian. If the issues are not resolved properly they may move to the Grievance Redressal Committee of the College.

Rules for The Reading Room for the Students

  1. All the stakeholders of the college are eligible to apply for Library cards.
  2. A notice is circulated for filling in the membership application form.
  3. Library Cards are distributed after a certain period.
  4. The library card is renewed in the odd semesters.
  5. In case of loss of the Library Membership Card, a written application to the librarian may be submitted for the reissuance of the Library Membership Card against a token charge.

Rules for The Reading Room for the Students

  1. Students can take one book at a time from the library to read in the reading room at any time from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm.
  2. Students are asked to submit a requisition to get a book after submitting their library cards and collect the same from the circulation counter after some time.
  3. After reading, students must return the book and take their Library Card or may ask for another book.
  4. The material taken for the Library Reading Room can’t be used outside the Library. If found so, a fine of Rs. 50/- will be imposed on a daily basis.
  5. The librarian reserves the right to suspend membership of any member found behaving in an indecent manner.

Lending Rules for Students

  1. A student must show his/her Library Card to borrow the books from the library.
  2. A student can borrow a maximum of 2 books at a time for a period of 15 days. All the books must be returned within 15 days of the issuance with a provision of renewal for another 15 days.
  3. No student is allowed to take an additional copy of the same title at a time.
  4. All the students must return their borrowed books either within the stipulated time or before the university examination form fill in, whichever is earlier.

Lending Rules for the Teachers & Non-teaching Staff

  1. The teachers can borrow a maximum of 4 books at a time for a period of 30 days.
  2. A non-teaching staff can borrow a maximum of 2 books at a time for a period of 30 days.

Rules for Departmental Library

  1. If any department wishes to develop the departmental library, they can borrow books from the college Library.
  2. A maximum of 100 Books from the existing titles of a subject is allowed to move from the college Library to the Departmental Library.
  3. Departmental Library can enhance its collection by keeping the Specimen Copies of books from the different publishers.
  4. The HOD of a concerned department can collect books requesting the specific titles on the specified subject.
  5. The concerned HOD must maintain a register for departmental library transactions.
  6. The books for the Departmental Library are the sole responsibility of the HOD to keep them safe.

Loss of Library Books

  1. If any book is lost by the borrower, the concerned person must convey the fact immediately to the Librarian and the latest edition of the book must be bought and submitted to the librarian. Otherwise, the library will incur the lost fine and the amount to be paid by the borrower.
  2. If the damaged/lost book is part of a multi-volume set, the whole set has to be replaced.

Rules for Browsing Centre for Students

  1. The computers in the library are provided only for academic purposes.
  2. Students are not allowed to download any software, applications and/or any malicious executable files on the desktops.
  3. Students are not allowed to insert pen drives, external hard drives, CD/DVD ROMs, or USB cables into the system.
  4. Students are not allowed to conduct any assignment and/or project work using library computers without proper permission from the Library Authority.

E-resource usage policy

  1. Electronic resources such as e-journals, e-databases, e-books etc. made available by the Raidighi College Library, are governed by license agreements that limit their use to Raidighi College for only academic use.
  2. Each user is responsible for ensuring that he or she uses these products only for non-commercial and educational use without systematically downloading, distributing, or retaining indefinitely substantial portions of information.

Library Clearance Certificate

  1. Library card is the property of the College.
  2. A student must return library card /cards and obtain clearance certificate before at the time of last University examination form fill in.

N.B. - The rules and regulations of the college library are subject to be updated from time to time by the competent Library Authority.
